Step Back Into the Civil War
Experience the Civil War as never before through the voice of a veteran who lived it. A soldier of Company F, 124th New York State Volunteers—known as the Orange Blossoms—returns to share his memories of war, camp life, and brotherhood. Blending authentic firsthand accounts with vivid storytelling, this immersive program transports audiences from the quiet routines of camp to the thunder of the battlefield.
Local author and historian Michael J. Worden presents this original Civil War program in character as a veteran of the 124th, reflecting years after the war as he prepares to return to Gettysburg for the dedication of the regiment’s monument. Researched and written in collaboration with author and historian Linda Zimmermann, the presentation offers a deeply personal and historically grounded perspective on the soldier’s experience.
Designed for in-person audiences, this program works especially well as an outdoor presentation, inviting attendees to settle in and be carried back in time
